Draft for legal review before launch
Traveller agreement
The terms on which independent travellers offer to buy, carry and hand over items for Sourced buyers on trips they are already taking.
Last updated 3 November 2026.
1. Independent contractor
You act as an independent contractor, not an employee or partner. You choose which jobs to claim around trips you are already making, you provide your own phone, travel and luggage, and you are responsible for your own taxes, permits and insurance. Nothing here creates an exclusive relationship or obliges you to travel.
2. Vetting and identity
Before you can take jobs we verify your identity document, contact details and references, and may ask for a selfie or video call. You must keep your profile accurate, including the cities you fly from, your travel dates and what you can carry. We may suspend or decline an application without giving a reason.
3. How deals work
- Wants appear for the city you are in now, the cities on your upcoming trips and the cities on your profile. Keep your whereabouts current; you may share your location from your phone to set your current city.
- You offer an item cost in the local currency and your own fee in shillings for buying, carrying, declaring and handing over. The platform fee is added on top and shown to you before you send. Offers hold for three days unless you withdraw them.
- When a buyer accepts, wait for the platform to confirm their payment before you buy. Never buy on a promise to pay.
- Each deal has steps with evidence: the shop receipt with the amount paid, optionally your boarding pass, and a photo at handover. Buy only the item agreed; if price or stock has changed, agree the change with the buyer in the app first.
- Carry the item yourself; do not post it, hand it to a third party or check it in unattended. Do not open sealed electronics unless the buyer asks.
- The buyer confirms receipt in the app. If they do not respond within three days of your handover record and no problem is reported, the deal settles automatically.
4. Pay
You are paid exactly what you offered: the item cost you paid plus your fee. The buyer pays the platform; we hold the money and release it when the buyer confirms receipt. The item cost is available to you immediately on confirmation; your fee becomes available after the inspection window shown in your earnings page (seven days by default) provided no dispute is open. Payouts are made by the method on your profile, on request, normally within five business days.
Earnings may be reversed where a buyer refund was caused by your error, and penalties may be applied for breaches of this agreement, each with a written reason. Staff-run orders, where our team assigns you a job, pay a share of the sourcing fee shown on the job.
5. Money you spend
On a deal you pay for the item and any duty yourself and are reimbursed the agreed item cost from the funds we hold, at the exchange rate fixed in your offer. Price the item carefully: a shortfall is yours unless the buyer agrees a change in the app before you buy. Keep the receipt; no receipt, no reimbursement. On staff-run orders your float settings on your profile apply.
6. Carrying items on your flight
You carry the item as accompanied baggage and travel as a private individual. You are responsible for declaring the goods on arrival in Kenya, paying any duty assessed and uploading the receipt for reimbursement, and for complying with your airline’s baggage and safety rules. Commercial quantities cannot be carried as personal effects. Never carry items that are prohibited by law or by your airline, including the items the platform marks as deferred (medicines, perishables, alcohol, standalone lithium batteries, bulky furniture, very high-value jewellery).
7. Conduct and confidentiality
- Treat buyers with courtesy. Talk to them only in the app; do not ask for or share phone numbers, email addresses or social handles. Messages containing them are edited automatically and repeated attempts end your access.
- Keep buyer, deal and platform information confidential, and delete it from your devices once a deal is settled.
- Do not take a deal, or any later purchase for the same buyer, outside the platform, and do not represent yourself as Sourced staff.
- Report loss, damage, delays or anything suspicious immediately in the deal thread or to the team.
8. Ratings, disputes and suspension
Customers and our team rate completed jobs. Ratings, acceptance rates and on-time performance affect which jobs you see. We may raise a dispute on a job, during which related earnings are held. We may suspend or end your access for breaches of this agreement, repeated poor ratings, unresponsiveness or conduct that puts customers, items or the platform at risk.
9. Liability
You are responsible for items in your custody from purchase until accepted handover, and for losses caused by your negligence or breach. Our liability to you is limited to earnings and reimbursements properly due. Taxes on your earnings are your responsibility; we may withhold tax where Kenyan law requires and will show it on your statements.
10. Term, changes and law
Either party may end this agreement at any time; jobs already claimed must be completed or handed back through the platform. We may update this agreement with notice in the traveller portal; continuing to claim jobs means you accept the update. This agreement is governed by the laws of Kenya. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data.
